■Title
Technological Nationalism in China
■Abstract
Nationalism has a special expression on technology in China, and the author defines this expression as technological nationalism. The author tries to discuss the influence of technological nationalism on the development of the Hongqi Limousine by tracing the history of its technology, and discuss the relationship between technological nationalism and national industrial technology. In the author’s view, the Hongqi Limousine was developed as a symbol of technological nationalism. Such cars merely advocated technological nationalism and couldn’t drive the relevant industrial development of Chinese cars. After the reform era, the Chinese government hoped to promote technological nationalism while developing the automobile industry, which requires cut-edge technology, great market response, high localization degree and pretty national industrial design element. It was almost an impossible task. The Chinese people need a more comprehensive understanding between technology and technological nationalism.
