Abstract
Since the 1980s, economic globalization under auspices of neoliberalism has dramatically changed the landscape of politics, with the process of political decision being handled by a minority of big businesses. However, a decade after the 2008 financial crisis shows a rise of progressive local politics that challenges the credo of neoliberalism, such as the re- municipalizing of public services and the reinventing of solidarity-based economies. In this seminar, Satoko Kishimoto of Transnational Institute talks about the trend of re-municipalization in Europe.
