Dr. Yoshihiro Nakano contributed his new article ‘Community Building of Growth Management’ in Urban Science Encyclopedia (edited by Yokohama National University’s College of Urban Science, Shumpusha Publishing, 2021, pp. 716-717). The article overviews historical evolution of industrial urbanization and the role of diverse community-based economic movements in growth management policies. It also introduces key concepts among recent transition city discourses such as degrowth.
